1.I think Parvana's mom went to the prison even though they wouldn't release her husband because there still was a tiny chance that she would win and he would be let out.And because she loved her husband so much and thought she may never see him again and wanted him to know she loved him and would miss him, because she was always inside her house and she wanted to get out for once.
If i was in her situation i would probably go to the prison too because the same reasons!.
2.I think Parvana's mom stopped taking care of the family because she was really depressed and she missed her husband, Parvana was sad her mother wasn't cooking or cleaning and she was sad and she felt unloved.
